As a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society I found this article quite interesting. However, I also found it to be exceedingly one-sided. Now, while it may be the case that the Author did not intend the piece to be pointedly biased, it nevertheless is. Additionally, it trades in absolutes, which is also somewhat problematic. But it is the dead weight of its determinism which begets the denouement. As previously mentioned, it is interesting and also informative, in a particular way.
