A fantastic investigative look into the sentencing of NSA whistleblower Reality Winner and the challenges defendants face being tried under the Espionage Act. In this article, author Kevin Gosztola interviews Reality Winner's attorney who explains the difficulty of defending a client in front of a judge and jury when classified information is involved. Great reporting and very insightful as to why we need to change the current status of the Espionage Act against government whistleblowers.

Heartbreaking look at the practical impossibility of mounting a defense against Espionage Act charges, where the government never has to prove the substance of their allegations & defendants are grateful to consider any remote reduction of their prison sentence as the only available victory. Fantastically detailed article that paints a clear picture of Reality Winner’s case & illuminates the reality of how whistleblowers are treated by the US govt.

Author Kevin Gosztola details a very informative interview with Reality Winner attorney, Titus Nichols. The interview shows how hard it is to defend a client who's 'violated' the Espionage Act due to the nature of confidential information.
