This is a very accurate account of the scandal to the date of publication. We now know that a third judge approved a wiretap of the journalist 60 days before the raid on his home. The report is correct that family and friends of Jeff Adachi served up some of the pressure that led to these illegal law enforcement actions, and that most elected officials supported the police overreach.

A harrowing tale told in quite gripping fashion. The Author does an exemplary job of bringing the story to life, while concomitantly, doing yeoman's service in delving deeply into the details of the matter. The quotes, commentary, and sourcing all line up providing context, depth and breadth to the piece. The Writer leaves no stone unturned in shining a light on the pointed up malfeasance. An indubitably worthwhile read. Four stars!

Interesting take on current SF events. The most informative part of this article comes after the disclosure that the author was Deputy Chief of Staff to Mayor Gavin Newsom. There it really goes in to the background that is needed to understand the argument the author is making.

Whilst this example of assault on freedom of the press is egregious, the creation of this site attests to the assault on freedom of the press inherent in the explosion of biased & dishonest reporting since 2015. The frequent use of "anonymous sources" & the conflating of news with opinion, has severely diminished public trust in the press & reduced the likelihood of robust public defence of freedom of the press. Thankfully, from a Federal perspective, the intelligence agency surveillance & prosecution of journalists under the Obama administration, has ceased.
