CRITIC REVIEWS

Surface Level

A bland and banal piece of reporting on a topic of nominal interest. The subject matter is discussed as if the referenced "product" was developed in a vacuum. Totally lacking in context. Additionally, this is more of a corporate press release regurgitated as news than anything else. That two people claim a byline on this high-school-paper level stuff is staggering. One would gather that this is useful only for those unable of their own intellectual accord to discern what constitutes accurate reporting. For any thinking person the entire exercise is frankly farcical.

How to challenge the credibility of an article that looks like a thinly-rewritten press release? The article certainly could've been better had NBC mentioned other systems, the challenges twitter will face, etc. But they've hedged their bets with “this might be messy and have problems at times, but we believe this is a model worth trying” and in terms of “credible” the story itself looks OK. How well will this help twitter deal with bubbles, intentional disinfo etc? I'll stay tuned.
