Good stuff. Writer spent some time on this one, there's a variety of quotes from people with different opinions and a detailed financial analysis of who's benefitting. I like the fact that I'm reading something from the LA Times, about an event in LA, however it sounds in no way biased.

Clear, straight to the point although with lack of sources in regard of the money exchange involved in the bidding and the actual costs

This is a very straight forward article, and an enjoyable read. The author doesn't provide sources, but doesn't need to, as most of what he lays out is general knowledge or is public record. All the facts and figures provided are either estimates taken from direct sources or easily verified. Looking forward to the Olympics in 11 years!

A non-sensationalized article on a big announcement for those living in Los Angeles and the United States. Highlights some of the negotiations and incentives that happen between a city vying to host the Olympic games and the committee that determines it. There are hints of backroom deals without direct accusation, allowing the reader to make their own decision. A well written story that avoids the pitfalls of clickbait or assumption.

This article is a good compendium of factual information regarding the negotiations to decide the hosting city of the 2024 and 2028 Summer Olympics. A good picture is painted around the expenses of an event of such magnitude, and the significance of hosting an Olympic event. Overall the article is well referenced and provides a good factual idea to those interested in the topic.

Well written and informative. More could have been written however on how past recent Olympic cities have incurred massive debt and are left with eye sore unused structures after the games are over. LA traffic is already so bad that I can't see it getting much worse with the Olympics. Still I can't bear the thought of LA traffic 11 years from now. Athletes will need to be helicoptered around just to get to their sports venue. I'm glad I won't be there for this circus.

I believe the source to be credible. The news is not earth shattering, just a straight forward account of where things stand with the Olympics going to LA.

The author, David Wharton, provides an inside look at the Olympic Games that many don't think of. David provides history and context to negotiations around the 2028 Olympic Games while still providing an interesting read. Not sure how newsworthy this is considering the timeline.

I believe author David Wharton did the best he could with the new information at hand. He provides context around the negotiations and the rivalry between Paris and L.A. to get the bid for the 2024 or 2028 Summer Olympics. He provides many figures to demonstrate the cost of this endeavor. I wish Wharton had provided greater insight into how he or the ICO determined those numbers, but this is a new announcement and I suspect that many of those numbers are estimations anyway. It'll be interesting to see how traffic issues will be handled in the lead-up and during the Summer Olympics. I wonder if this will encourage the city of L.A. or Elon Musk and The Boring Company to move faster with their plans of an underground network of hyperloops.

Good article. Laid the numbers down and let the reader choose if the $$$ to host the Olympics are worth it.

This is not a particularly substantive article, but what it does say seems trustworthy enough. They do not flesh out any details of the plan, they just recite the numbers that have been told. It's definitely an article to hype up the announcement more than anything.
