Sensational
October 16, 2019
This article is sensationalizing a very difficult, and nuanced decision that parents have to consider. The author has a clear stance against any form of abortion, and it comes through in her writing with overly sensational language. Rather than reporting on the story and providing facts and figures, she inserts her own beliefs when possible such as in the first paragraph, "It turns out Iceland’s solution is much simpler, and much more sinister: using prenatal testing and abortion to systematically exterminate children with Down syndrome. This isn’t progress; it’s eugenics."

This article clearly has a biased view on prenatal testing and very strong opinions on abortion. It largely rips apart a related CBS News article. The title twists the reality of what is happening to rile up emotions. This is a piece of an important discussion that will only become more relevant, but has no place masquerading as news.
