SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) – San Francisco police are searching for the suspect, seen in a disturbing video, robbing an 81-year-old woman at gunpoint and shoving her to the ground.It happened Monday afternoon around 4:37 p.m. at 28th and Diamond Streets.The whole attack unfolded right in front of a neighbor’s ring doorbell cameraMoments before the attack, you could see the suspect’s car posted up, just waiting for that woman to get closer.A brutal attack caught on surveillance video Monday afternoon.The 81-year-old woman pleads for the suspect, armed with a gun, to stop as he repeatedly shoved her to the ground.“It’s like they were preying on, you know, looking for the right prey to go after and in broad daylight. That’s pretty scary,” Saranya Sundaragan and Ameya Gokarn said.Saranya Sundaragan and Ameya Gokarn recently moved to this San Francisco neighborhood at 28th and Diamond Streets a month ago.They were shocked to see the brazen robbery in their new neighborhood.“It’s a little bit frightening that a neighborhood that is known to be a little more quiet and safe that something like that would’ve happened, certainly that they were camped out in a car that’s frightening,” Sundaragan said.Police say the woman was walking on 28th Street at the time.That’s when one of the suspects, described as a 230 pound man in his 20’s or 30’s, got out of a silver Jeep Cherokee, cocked his gun, pointed it at the elderly woman and then shoved her to the ground repeatedly before getting away with her purse.“This kind of thing doesn’t happen to elderly people, they’re pretty safe here,” Aalia Akver said.Like the victim, neighbor Aalia Akver takes regular walks through this neighborhood and says this is the first time she’s seen or heard of something like this.“I live down the hill. I live on the 28th Street and this is not something that happens every day because I walk by this place every day and it’s just regular people taking a walk, trying to take their kids, maybe drive by,” Akver said.She and other neighbors say they’ll be paying closer attention to who drives through these streets.“I’ll be on the lookout. If I’m walking, I’ll be more alert because normally I just walk around and I may be day dreaming or listening to music but I will be more alert now,” Akbar said.“As a community kind of learn from it and see what we can do as a community call out whenever we see something suspicious,” Sundaragan said.As you saw in that video, the victim was able to get right back up and appears to be okay.Again, she tells the police that the suspect was a man in his 20’s or 30’s, in a silver Jeep Cherokee.If you have any information, contact the police.Latest Stories:× Close Ad
