Land of the Free, Home of the Brave...Not - Shadowproof

Land of the Free, Home of the Brave...Not - Shadowproof

I think the national anthem needs to be changed because these words haven’t been relevant for quite awhile now. It’s one thing to ban ‘hate’ speech and another thing to have a media so corrupted that it’s lost it’s original purpose. (Not to mention the greed shown by those who own such media, example being the number of newspapers shutting down because their owners can’t make the 20 to 30 percent profit they were used to making). And being ‘brave’ means having enough internal fortitude to handle dissent without resulting to making the law a caricature of ‘justice’. And not ignoring the moral...

"Oil" by Katie Mae Dickinson on flickrThe hypocrisy, addiction, and corruption associated with the usage of fossil fuels, in particular oil, is brought out(‘TIP’; click on full screen so that you don’t wear your eyes out viewing the article)“It is notable that when people talk about oil having hit its ‘highs’ of $140 back in 2008 and now trading almost 40% lower they are referring to the price of WTI, which has tumbled back into the $80s, but both Argus Sour Crude (left, top) and the more ubiquitous Brent Crude (left, middle) contracts are still trading within shouting distance of their...

The Filibuster is UNCONSTITUTIONAL ! - Shadowproof

The Filibuster is UNCONSTITUTIONAL ! - Shadowproof

about Bayh’s take on the filibuster. And there has been a lot of ‘discussion about it, including Dodd’s coming out and saying he is against such ‘reform’.So what’s the story about the filibuster?"One thing stands out as an impediment to changing the current system and that is "it gives one senator enormous power to put a procedural hold on an appointee. And I have to say, there is no better way to raise money for a senator than to go around to contributors and saying, “Hey, I single-handedly can shut down the whole country,” which, as the rules now operate, they can do. So people—it’s a lot...

It's called coping - Shadowproof

It's called coping - Shadowproof

With all the downer info we are subjected to on a daily and ongoing basis, it’s hard not to become depressed.I mean, here we supposedly are celebrating the Declaration of Independence this weekend and doesn’t even know whom independence was declared from. Sheesh.Add to that the years I reflect upon and that nothing has changed over those years, and yes, it is depressing. For example,This song was published 18 years ago -and I can round up others that go back further than 18 years !- and it’s lyrics are still accurate.I think this song reflects what a lot of us want:So to get out of my...

Attitude - Shadowproof

Attitude - Shadowproof

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her head.‘Well,’ she said, ‘I think I’ll braid my hair today.’So she did, and she had a wonderful day.The next day she woke up,looked in the mirrorand saw that she had only two hairs on her head.‘H-M-M,’ she said,‘I think I’ll part my hair down the middle today.’So she did, and she had a grand day.The next day she woke up,looked in the mirror and noticedthat she had only one hair on her head.‘Well,’ she said, ‘today I’m goingto wear my hair in a pony tail.’So she did, and she had a...

Not Outraged Yet? - Shadowproof

Not Outraged Yet? - Shadowproof

A lot has been ‘media-cized’ about the AIG bonuses and rightfully so BUT….Why is there not the same amount of outrage about AIG suing the government about taxes? Here is a summation of the issue:"AIG is claiming that it overpaid taxes related to activities of an AIG-linked Panamanian corporation chartered in tax haven Panama. No surprise then, that none other than AIG – along with other bailed-out banks – supports a hangover Bush Free Trade Agreement with Panama.""At issue is AIG-linked Starr International Company (SICO), which, it turns out, is AIG’s largest shareholder(besides us). It is...

Saturday Art- Dance is/as art - Shadowproof

Saturday Art- Dance is/as art - Shadowproof

I’ve always been a fan of tap dancing; think it has to do with my love of percussion; drums just ‘do it’ for me.And nowadays, what passes for ‘dance’ seems more like acrobatic and gymnastic movement than ‘dance’ to me but ,hell, I’m an old fart so I guess that’s to be expected.I mean, this title: “Now This Dude Can Dance! Best Dancer Ever Maybe?” gets to what I mean. Is this ‘dance’? As towards ‘best dancer ever maybe’, ROFLMAO !I mean really? Guy is truly remarkable in his talent but I can’t consider what he does as ‘dancing’.Not sure when I first noticed tap dancing but Gregory Hines does...
